Maintenance Officer – ACT

Collar Care is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer to join a well-established aged care organisation in the ACT.
This is a hands-on role responsible for supporting the delivery of reactive and preventative maintenance, ensuring buildings, property and equipment are maintained to a high standard and that a safe environment is provided for residents, staff and visitors.

About the Role
You will be responsible for:
- Completing preventative and reactive maintenance
- Undertaking general handyman and building maintenance
- Maintaining property, buildings and equipment
- Responding to maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Coordinating and overseeing contractors when required
- Identifying and escalating maintenance risks
- Supporting compliance with relevant standards and WHS requirements
- Maintaining accurate records relating to maintenance, consumables and expenses
- Working collaboratively with staff, contractors, residents and families
- Responding to emergency maintenance requirements when required
The role is focused on maintaining a safe, functional and high-quality living environment for residents, staff and visitors.
About You
To be successful, you will have:
- 3–5 years’ experience in general handyman or building maintenance
- Building trade qualifications or equivalent advanced maintenance knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of building codes, standards and general maintenance practices
- Understanding of WHS requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills
- The ability to work professionally with residents, families, staff and contractors
- A genuine understanding and sensitivity towards working within a residential aged care environment
Aged care, retirement living or health experience is desirable.
